Linham/Suessdorf – Improvisation on ‘Moonlight in Vermont’

Instrumentation: Non-standard Brass Trio (Trumpet/Trombone/Tuba)

Moonlight in Vermont has long been one of my favourite melodies from the Great American Songbook. My father always used to play it on the piano and Frank Sinatra’s version from his ‘Come Fly With Me’ album is one of the most magical orchestrations of all time.

Occasionally I like to sit down and improvise an arrangement at my computer, with very little planning or forethought, except for a passion and love for the material. During lockdown my incredible friends have been recording parts to many of my arrangements and I have long had the idea for a trio of this non-standard instrumentation, so I thought with pro players at the ready, this would be the perfect time to try out my theory.

I’m thrilled with the recording we managed and hope there will be more in the future. Please enjoy this arrangement for free!
