Ecce Novum Gaudium is a lively Scottish hymn tune with a renaissance style lilt in 2. It allows 2 members of the Dectet (horn and trumpet) a chance to play percussion. The piece was when penned for the Aldro Preparatory School boy’s choir, but written so that it works as a stand-alone arrangement, perfect for Chapel service and concerts inspired by folk music. With flourishing Eb trumpets at the end and Willcocks style harmonisations, this piece showcases varying colours of a brass ensemble.
